Finance Committee

The Plainfield Finance Committee prepares the annual budget based on the issues and finances of the town and submits the budget to Town Meeting. The Finance Committee responsibilities are to receive the budgets from town departments & committees, to analyze them, to have hearings where the department heads and the public can testify, and to present a balanced budget to Town Meeting.  The Finance Committee's independent review and carefully considered advice supports resident engagement and voting on the budget. The members of the Finance Committee are appointed by the town moderator in accordance with Article XI of the town bylaws.

The finance committee shall consist of at least five voters and no more than nine, who shall hold no other office in which in any given year ordinarily requests or expends public money exceeding one percent of the annual budget of the previous fiscal year.
