One Plainfield

One Plainfield conducted a survey in early 2024 to learn about our neighbors' hopes for Plainfield in the future. Economic well-being and climate resilience rose to the top of important topics for those who took the survey. The full survey results can be found online here and at the Plainfield library (in a blue loose leaf binder on the right hand side of the shelf where books are checked out).  As a result of survey responses, One Plainfield began collaborating with the Master Plan Ad Hoc Steering Committee to spread the word and encourage Plainfielders to inform Plainfield’s 10 year Master Plan which focuses on economic development, housing, infrastructure, and other connected areas of interest.

One Plainfield’s first project, which concluded in August 2023 (Year 1 Findings), focused on how to invest some of Plainfield’s pandemic recovery (American Rescue Plan Act, ARPA) funds. Initial ARPA funds were spent on broadband infrastructure and an electronic message board. As a result of the One Plainfield project, additional ARPA funds went to:

• A partial down payment for Plainfield’s new fire truck
• Repairs of the Town park play structure and ball field
• A new Town website platform
• Support for the Plainfield Mutual Support Network
• Planning for a potential village green

Additional funding opportunities were explored for other activities that townspeople proposed for Plainfield’s ARPA funds, such as equipment & support for more accessible town meetings,  radar speed signs for town center, and repairs to Plainfield Pond.
