Over the last twenty years members of the Plainfield Historical Society have been working to create an inventory of all of Plainfield’s historic houses, buildings and landscapes. Finally, this arduous process was completed and the complete inventory is available to view on the MACRIS website. When the Massachusetts Historical Commission notified the Plainfield Historical Society that our proposal has been accepted, they also informed us that we were eligible to be a National Historic District. In 2015 our application for our downtown district to become a National Historic District was accepted.
